Method and system for improved authentication for communications network setup

A machine-readable storage having stored thereon, a computer program having at least one code section for enabling secure wireless communication of information in a communication system, the at least one code section being executable by a machine for causing the machine to perform steps comprising:

• initiating configuration of a client station by a configurator in an IEEE 802.11 communication system;
• exchanging configuration information between said configurator and said client station, via an RF communication channel communicatively coupling said configurator and said client station and;
• configuring said client station to securely communicate within said IEEE 802.11 communication system, based on said exchanged configuration information, and information that is stored locally on said configurator and stored locally on said client station.

A system for enabling secure wireless communication of information in a communication system, the system comprising:

• a configurator that initiates configuration of a client station by a configurator in an IEEE 802.11 communication system;
• said configurator exchanges configuration information between said configurator and said client station, via an RF communication channel communicatively coupling said configurator and said client station and;
• said configurator configures said client station to securely communicate within said IEEE 802.11 communication system, based on said exchanged configuration information, and information that is stored locally on said configurator and stored locally on said client station.
