Abstract
In a network having routing elements for routing information through the network, there is provided a method for providing an ability to set up a Quality of Service contract for a videoconference session between clients. A reservation is received for a time period for the videoconference session. Configuration information, for filtering real-time traffic corresponding to the videoconference session from other traffic traversing the network, is sent to at least one of the routing elements after the time period is reserved.

In a network having routing elements for routing information through the network, a method for providing an ability to set up a Quality of Service (QoS) contract for a videoconference session between clients, the method comprising the steps of:
- receiving a reservation for a time period for the videoconference session;
- and
- sending configuration information to at least one of the routing elements after the time period is reserved for filtering real-time traffic corresponding to the videoconference session from other traffic traversing the network.
The method of step 1, further comprising the step of contacting the at least one of the routing elements to remove the configuration information upon an expiration of the reserved time period.
In a network having routing elements for routing information through the network, a system for providing an ability to set up a Quality of Service (QoS) contract for a videoconference session between clients, the system comprising:
- means for receiving a reservation for a time period for the videoconference session;
- and
- means for sending configuration information to at least one of the routing elements after the time period is reserved for filtering real-time traffic corresponding to the videoconference session from other traffic traversing the network.
The system of step 12, further comprising means for contacting the at least one of the routing elements to remove the configuration information upon an expiration of the reserved time period.
In a network having routing elements for routing information through the network, a method for providing an ability to set up a Quality of Service (QoS) contract for a videoconference session between clients, the method comprising the step of:
- providing an ability to send a reservation for the videoconference session, the reservation specifying a time period for the videoconference session so that a client may participate in the videoconference session with a guaranteed level of service during the specified time period.
