Abstract
The invention relates to the use of a hard metal alloy for parts, which are subject particularly to torsion in addition to wear. Said hard metal alloy substantially contains tungsten carbide having an average grain size of less than 1.2 μm and 13 to 23 percent by weight of binder metal which comprises one or several metals that is/are selected among the group consisting of cobalt, iron, and nickel.

1-8. (canceled)
A hard metal alloy component, consisting essentially of:
- tungsten carbide having a mean grain size of less than 1.2 μm;
- 13 to 23% by weight of one or more binder metals selected from the group consisting of cobalt, iron, and nickel;
- and
- formed into a component resistant to wear and resistant to torsional loads.
A method for producing a screwdriver bit, comprising:
- providing an alloy of tungsten carbide having a mean grain size of less than 1.2 μm, and 13 to 23% by weight of one or more binder metals selected from the group consisting of cobalt, iron, and nickel;
- and
- forming the screwdriver bit from the alloy by metal powder injection molding.
A screwdriver bit, comprising:
- an alloy body of tungsten carbide having a mean grain size of less than 1.2 μm and 13 to 23% by weight of one or more binder metals selected from the group consisting of cobalt, iron, and nickel, produced by metal powder injection molding in an injection mold, said alloy body having a plurality of parallel grooves formed therein at approximately 45° to a longitudinal axis of the screwdriver bit directly beneath a screwdriver tip.
