- a first support frame structure having a base portion disposed between a pair of support arms configured to carry one or more bicycles, the base portion being configured to contact an upper region of the rear of the vehicle, wherein the base portion is wider than the distance between the support arms;
- a second support frame structure having a base portion configured to contact a lower region of the rear of the vehicle;
- and
- at least one hub assembly operatively connecting the first and second support frame structures and permitting selective pivoting of one support frame structure relative to the other frame structure.
A bicycle carrier configured to be mounted to a rear of a vehicle, comprising:
- first and second support structures, wherein each of the support structures has a base portion, the base portion of the first support structure being configured to contact an upper portion of the rear of the vehicle, and the base portion of the second support structure being configured to contact a lower portion of the rear of the vehicle;
- a pair of carrier arms configured to support at least one bicycle;
- and
- at least one hub assembly operatively connecting first and second support structures to the carrier arms and permitting selective pivoting of one support structure relative to the other about a pivot axis, wherein at least one of the first and second support structures includes one or more flared portions between the base portion and the at least one hub assembly.
A bicycle carrier configured to be mounted to a rear of a vehicle, comprising:
- a first support frame structure having a base portion disposed between a pair of support arms configured to carry one or more bicycles, the base portion being configured to contact an upper region of the rear of the vehicle, wherein the first support frame structure includes at least one flared portion between the base portion and the pair of support arms, the at least one flared portion flaring out towards the base portion such that the base portion is wider than the distance between the support arms;
- a second support frame structure having a base portion configured to contact a lower region of the rear of the vehicle;
- and
