Abstract
The present invention provides a site assembled swimming pool comprising a plurality of upstanding staves arranged in side by side relation and held together by upper and lower L-shaped rails, a coping extending entirely around and in releasably secured relation to the rails that fasten the upper edges of the staves together, and a flexible liner and cover releasably secured to the coping. The wooden staves include opposing vertical edges one of which includes a modified tongue and the other of which includes a groove. When assembled, the tongue of one stave engages the groove of the adjacent stave, thereby interconnecting the two staves.
Claims17
A coping for an above ground pool having a liner and a cover associated therewith and comprising at least one pool defining member, said coping comprising:
- a. first and second legs defining a first channel therebetween that is adapted for interconnection to the upper edge of the at least one pool defining member;
- b. a second channel formed in said coping, partially defined by said first leg, and adapted to receive the bead of a pool liner therein;
- and
- c. a third channel formed in the top of said coping and positioned opposite said first channel adapted to receive the bead of a pool cover.
A coping for an above ground pool having a liner and cover associated therewith and comprising at least one pool defining member, said coping comprising:
- a. a first channel formed in the bottom of said coping and adapted for interconnection to the at least one pool defining member;
- b. a second channel formed in the top of said coping and adapted to receive a bead portion of the cover therein;
- c. a third channel formed in the inwardly facing surface of said coping and adapted to receive the bead portion of the liner therein;
- and
- d. a fourth channel formed in at least one of the inwardly facing surface or outwardly facing surface of said coping and adapted to receive a decorative member therein.
Staves for use in assembling a swimming pool, wherein each stave comprises:
- a. a first side edge including a groove formed longitudinally therealong;
- and
- b. a second side edge, opposite said first side edge, including a tongue formed longitudinally therealong, said tongue including an inwardly facing surface of a first predetermined length and an outwardly facing surface of a second predetermined length that is longer than said first predetermined length, wherein said tongue is adapted to engage the groove formed in an adjacent stave.
A site assembled swimming pool, comprising:
- a. a plurality of elongated staves arranged is side by side relation, each having upper and lower edges, inwardly and outwardly facing major surfaces, and first and second opposing side edges extending between said major surfaces, said first side edge including a tongue formed longitudinally therealong and said second side edge including a groove formed longitudinally therein;
- b. a securing element fastened to said lower edges of said plurality of staves for securely interconnecting them in side by side relation to one another;
- and
- c. a coping interconnected to said upper edges of said plurality of staves.
A site assembled swimming pool, comprising:
- a. a plurality of elongated staves arranged is side by side relation, each having upper and lower edges, inwardly and outwardly facing major surfaces, and first and second opposing side edges extending between said major surfaces;
- b. a securing element fastened to said lower edges of said plurality of staves for securely interconnecting them in side by side relation to one another;
- and
- c. means for vertically adjusting said plurality of staves.
