Method for predicting and avoiding danger in execution environment

A method for predicting and avoiding a danger in an execution environment in a computer system having a program execution environment in which assigned memory is released by garbage collection, the method comprising steps of:

• measuring an occurrence interval of the garbage collection when an event of the garbage collection occurs;
• determining that performance is degraded due to a memory shortage when the measured occurrence interval of the garbage collection continuously runs below a predetermined threshold;
• and
• notifying another application of a warning of degraded performance due to the memory shortage.

A method for predicting and avoiding a danger in an execution environment in a computer system having a program execution environment in which assigned memory is released by generation type garbage collection, the method comprising steps of:

• measuring an amount of an overflow from a new generation area to an old generation area when an event of the garbage collection occurs in the new generation area;
• determining that there is a danger of a memory shortage error when a ratio of accumulated amount of overflow calculated based on the measured amount of an overflow to a free space of memory in an old generation area exceeds a predetermined threshold;
• and
• notifying another application of a warning of a danger of the memory shortage error.
