Abstract
The intervertebral disc is avascular. With aging, nutrients and oxygen transporting through the endplates diminish. The disc degenerates, and pain ensues. Delivery devices are used to deliver a conduit through a pedicle or vertebral body into the intervertebral disc to re-establish the exchange of nutrients and waste between the disc and bodily circulation to slow, stop or reverse disc degeneration and relieve pain.
Claims16
A delivery device for delivering a conduit into an intervertebral disc, the delivery device comprising:
- a sheath,
- a drill sized and configured to fit at least partially within said sheath,
- a conduit sized and configured to fit at least partially within said sheath, and
- a plunger to deploy said conduit.
A delivery device for delivering a conduit into an intervertebral disc, the delivery device comprising:
- a sheath,
- a resilient needle locatable within said sheath, said resilient needle having a straightened position when located within said sheath and a resiliently curved position when located at least partially outside said sheath,
- a conduit sized and configured to fit at least partially within said sheath,
- a deployment slide locatable within said resilient needle and adjacent said conduit, and
- a plunger to deploy said conduit.
A positioning device for moving a supple, compliant tissue structure, the positioning device comprising:
- a tubular body having a blunt and curve distal end,
- at least one suction opening located through a wall of said tubular body,
- a vacuum line connected to said at least one suction opening, and
- a handle.
