- wherein the structural moiety “A” is selected from the group consisting of:
A method for synthesizing a vancomycin analog, comprising the steps of:
- (a) reacting a vancomycin aglycon with a sugar transferase;
- and
- (b) further reacting the resulting compound from step (a) with an alkyne via a 1,3 dipolar cycloaddition to result in a vancomycin analog,
- wherein the resulting vancomycin analog from step (b) has a structure of Formula I,
