Land grid array socket having improved terminals

A land grid array socket for being sandwiched between a first and a second electronic components and electrically connecting the two components, the socket comprising:

• an insulative housing having a plurality of passageways extending throughout a top surface and an opposite bottom surface;
• a plurality of electrical terminals received in corresponding passageways, respectively;
• each terminal comprising a base portion, a first spring arm partly extending out of the top surface for electrically connected to the first electronic component, and a second spring arm partly extending out of the bottom surface for electrically connected to the second electronic component;
• the base portion including two separate and spaced base plates which corporate with parts of the first and the second spring arms in the passageway to form a substantially encircled inner space for optimizing the high frequency characteristic of the terminal.

An electrical connector adapted to be electrically connected to a first electronic component attached to its top surface and a second electronic component attached to its bottom surface, the connector comprising:

• an insulative housing having a plurality of passageways extending therein and throughout the top and the bottom surface;
• a plurality of terminals received in corresponding passageways;
• each terminal including a base portion in the passageway and spring arms respectively extending out of the top and the bottom surface of the housing and respectively forming outer resisting points for resisting the first and the second electronic components;
• wherein
• the base portion defines a rectangular cross-section snugly and compliantly received in the corresponding passageway, and the spring arms extends from two opposite lengthwise ends respectively.
