General purpose pin mapping for a general purpose application specific integrated circuit (ASIC)

Abstract

In one form of the invention, there is provided a general purpose ASIC comprising: a plurality of functional units each having a plurality of connections; a plurality of pins; and an interface for connecting selected connections of selected functional units to selected pins. In another form of the invention, there is provided a method for configuring a general purpose ASIC comprising: providing a general purpose ASIC comprising: a plurality of functional units each having a plurality of connections; a plurality of pins; and an interface for connecting selected connections of selected functional units to selected pins; and configuring said interface so as to connect selected connections of selected functional units to selected pins.
