Panel for sheathing system and method

A method for producing textured, water-resistant building panels, the panels comprising surface barrier layers adhesively secured to the outward facing surfaces of said panels, said panel surface barrier layers being substantially bulk water resistant and comprising a substantially skid resistant embossed textured outward facing surfaces, the method comprising the steps of:

• providing paper;
• feeding a leading edge of the paper onto a forming belt;
• depositing reconstituted lignocellulosic furnish, coated with a binding agent, in contact with said paper sheet so as to form a lignocellulosic mat having first and second lateral edges;
• providing sufficient heat and pressure to set the panel structure and to retain a skid-resistant embossed textured outward facing surface on said paper;
• and
• cutting said mat into panels of predetermined sizes.
