Screw connection device for connecting the flared ends of two pipes

A screw connection device for connecting the flared ends of two pipes;

• wherein a distance element is provided which at a first end comprises a first positive-fit recess for positive-fit accommodation of the flare at the end of a first pipe, and at a second end comprises a second positive-fit recess for positive-fit accommodation of the flare at the end of the other pipe;
• wherein furthermore a nut is provided for accommodating the one pipe end in which nut the distance element in the connected state has been inserted such that the flare of the pipe end accommodated by the nut grips the associated positive-fit recess of the distance element;
• wherein furthermore a screw for connecting the other pipe end is provided, with the accommodated pipe end of said screw in the connected state being screwed into the nut such that the flare of the pipe end accommodated by the screw grips the associated positive-fit recess of the distance element;
• and
• wherein one of said nut and/or the pipe flare of the pipe end which in the connected state is accommodated in the nut or one of said screw and/or the pipe flare of the pipe end which in the connected state is accommodated in the screw comprise positive-fit elements, which positive-fit elements are designed such that the accommodated pipe end is secured against rotation relative to the nut.

A method of providing a screw connection for connecting the flared ends of two pipes, the steps comprising;

• providing a distance element which at a first end comprises a first positive-fit recess for positive-fit accommodation of the flare at the end of a first pipe, and at a second end comprises a second positive-fit recess for positive-fit accommodation of the flare at the end of the other pipe;
• providing a nut for accommodating the one pipe end and the distance element, inserting said distance element in said nut such that the flare of the pipe end accommodated by the nut grips the associated positive-fit recess of the distance element;
• wherein the nut and/or the pipe flare of the pipe end which in the connected state is accommodated in the nut comprise positive-fit elements, which positive-fit elements are designed such that the accommodated pipe end is secured against rotation relative to the nut, and positioning said positive-fit elements of said nut in the positive-fit elements of the flare of the pipe;
• and
• providing a screw for connecting the other pipe end, with the accommodated pipe end of said screw in the connected state being secured to the nut such that the flare of the pipe end accommodated by the screw grips the associated positive-fit recess of the distance element and connecting said screw to said nut.

A screw connection device for connecting the flared ends of two pipes comprising:

• a nut for receiving one of the pipes said nut defining a bore to surround said pipe and an annular seat to seat against the flare of the pipe;
• said nut defining an enlarged bore, said bore configured to receive a screw;
• a screw defining a bore to surround the other of the pipes and an annular seat to seat against the flare of the pipe, said screw secured within said bore of said nut;
• a spacer element disposed in said enlarged bore of said nut, said spacer having a first end defining a seat to seal against the flare of the first tube and a second end defining a seat to seal against the flare of the second tube;
• and
• said seat of one of said nut or screw including projections formed therein to contact the flare of the pipe associated therewith to secure the associated pipe against rotation relative to the nut or screw.
