Abstract
Methods and compositions for restoring diuretic and renal function
Claims17
A composition comprising a pharmaceutically effective amount of an adenosine A1 antagonist and a non-adenosine modifying diuretic.
A method of inducing a diuretic effect in a animal refractory to a diuretic comprising the step of administering a therapeutically effective amount of an adenosine A1 antagonist in combination with second pharmaceutical composition capable of inducing a diuretic effect.
A method of maintaining or restoring the diuretic effect of a non-adenosine modifying diuretic in a patient comprising the administration of an adenosine A1 antagonist in combination with said non-adenosine modifying diuretic.
A method of maintaining or restoring renal function in a patient comprising the step of administering a therapeutically effective amount of an adenosine A1 antagonist in combination with second pharmaceutical composition capable of inducing a diuretic effect.
A method of maintaining or restoring renal function in a patient comprising the steps of:
- a) administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of a non-adenosine modifying diuretic;
- b) monitoring the glomerular filtration rate of said patient;
- c) if the rate measure in step b) falls 20% or more below a normal glomerular filtration rate, administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of an adenosine A1 antagonist.
