A signaling protocol for a client and a server in a communications environment includes providing information about another communication environment to at least one of the client and the server.

A method for signaling between a client and a server in a first communications environment, comprising:
- providing information about a second communication environment to at least one of the client and the server.
A communications environment comprising:
- a client;
- and
- a server;
- at least one of the client and the server being capable of providing information about a second communication environment to at least one of the client and the server.
