System and method for estimating network management bandwidth

An information handling system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• a memory accessible by the processors;
• one or more nonvolatile storage devices accessible by the processors;
• and
• a network management bandwidth tool to identify a communications link requirement, the network management bandwidth tool including:
• means for identifying a device type quantity, the device type quantity corresponding to a device type category;
• means for computing a unit bandwidth requirement corresponding to the device type category using one or more interval attribute byte counts;
• means for calculating a network management bandwidth requirement using the device type quantity and the unit bandwidth requirement;
• and
• means for identifying the communications link requirement using the network management bandwidth requirement.

A computer program product stored on a computer operable media for calculating a network management bandwidth requirement, said computer program product comprising:

• means for identifying a device type quantity, the device type quantity corresponding to a device type category;
• means for computing a unit bandwidth requirement corresponding to the device type category using one or more interval attribute byte counts;
• means for calculating the network management bandwidth requirement using the device type quantity and the unit bandwidth requirement;
• and
• means for identifying a communications link requirement using the network management bandwidth requirement.
