Abstract
A small light mechanical siren for mobile emergency equipment which utilize spiral rebound ramps in the rotor to produce a loud penetrating square form spiral sound wave enabling effective warning without contributing to noise pollution.
Claims31
1) A Siren Rotor with a multiple number of curved air pumping surfaces radiating out from the central hub each connecting with a short straight blade portion exactly radially aligned toward the rotor center and further connecting to a diametrial flange segment large enough to cover completely the opposing stator slots, said surfaces all mounted between a rear driving hub disk and a front circular ring having a bore to match the siren intake bore.
5) A Siren Rotor dimensioned such that the width of the front ring edge, the width of the rear rotor disk edge, and the circumferal overlap of the stator blank space to the rotor diametrial flange sections around said rotor pumping slots are all equal, forming even width air dams to decrease rebound leakage and to increase the air pressure of the resulting reversing sound shock waves formed while the stator blanks off the rotor air pumping slots.
6) A Siren Rotor with spiral ramps on the central floor spaces between the rotor pumping blades at relative right angle to the blades walls with each ramp angled at 45 degrees to the central pivotal axis, so as to change the direction of the returning sound shock wave from radially inward to directly out the central air intake throat with only a single rebound.
8) A Siren Stator with the port openings formed by multiple slots, said slots forming integral longitudinal safety bars across the port openings with said bars spaced away from the bore so as to not change the siren pitch because of additional multiple openings and closings with the rotor.
12) A Siren Rotor 3 with a plurality of pumping channels 12 having spiral ramps 28 disposed between said channel 12 blades, said spiral ramps 28 substantially at right angle to said blade walls, said spiral ramp 28 angled substantially at 45 degrees to the rotor axis of rotation, so as to change the direction of a rebounding wave 21 from radially inward to directly out through an intake throat 5 and a nose 35 in one single rebound, according to a rule of opposite and same angle rebound.
18) The Siren Rotor 3 dimensioned with a width 25 front ring 29 and a width 24 of said rear rotor disk, and a circumferential overlap by a stator blank space 18, to a width 27 and a width 26 beside either side of said pumping channel 12, said width measurements are all substantially equal, forming equal width air dams surrounding pumping channels 12, to decrease rebound air leakage, substantially preserving the acoustic energy imparted to said rebounding sound waves 21.
19) A Siren Stator 9 having multiple window 11 openings corresponding in size to said rotor pumping channels 12, said window 11 is formed by plural slots 15 substantially parallel to the siren axis of rotation and radial to its center, said slots 15 leave bars 16 with undercuts 17, so that said bars 16 are spaced away from the bore of said stator 9, thus said slots 15 and bars 16 do not change the siren pitch because of additional openings and closings with rotor 3.
21) A Siren Rotor 3 with a plurality of pumping channels 12 having spiral ramps 28 disposed between said channel 12 blades, said spiral ramps 28 substantially at right angle to said blade walls, said spiral ramp 28 angled substantially at 45 degrees to the rotor axis of rotation, so as to change the direction of a rebounding wave 21 from radially inward to directly out through an intake throat 5 and a nose 35 in one single rebound, according to a rule of opposite and same angle rebound.
21) A Mechanical Siren 1 comprising an electric motor 2 driving through a clutch 8 said rotor 3, having a plurality of said pumping channels 12 having spiral ramps 28 disposed between said rotor's blades substantially at right angle to said blade walls, said ramps angled substantially at 45 degrees to the rotor axis of rotation, so as to change the direction of said rebounding wave 21 from radially inward to directly out through said intake throat 5 and nose 35 in one single rebound, said rotor 3 mounted with bearings to promote coasting, said rotor 3 dimensioned with width 25 front ring 29, and width 24 of said rear rotor disk, and a circumferential overlap by said stator blank space 18, to width 27 and width 26 beside either side of said rotor pumping channel 12, said width measurements are all substantially equal, forming equal width air dams surrounding pumping channel 12, to decrease rebound air leakage, substantially preserving the acoustic energy imparted to said rebounding sound waves 21, said stator 9 having multiple window 11 openings corresponding in size to said rotor pumping channels 12, said window 11 is formed by plural slots 15 substantially parallel to the siren axis of rotation and radial to its center, said slots 15 leave bars 16 with under cuts 17, so that said bars 16 are spaced away from the bore of stator 9, thus said slots 15 and bars 16 do not change the siren pitch because of additional openings and closings with rotor 3, said rebounding waves 21 combine as a spiraling pulsing wave 22 to exit through said nose 35 with its angled throat to guide said sound waves 22 in an expanding pattern without cavitations and eddy currents.
27) The Siren Rotor 3 dimensioned with a width 25 front ring 29 and a width 24 of said rear rotor disk, and a circumferential overlap by a stator blank space 18, to a width 27 and a width 26 beside either side of said pumping channel 12, said width measurements are all substantially equal, forming equal width air dams surrounding pumping channels 12, to decrease rebound air leakage, substantially preserving the acoustic energy imparted to said rebounding sound waves 21.
28) A Siren Stator 9 having multiple window 11 openings corresponding in size to said rotor pumping channels 12, said window 11 is formed by plural slots 15 substantially parallel to the siren axis of rotation and radial to its center, said slots 15 leave bars 16 with undercuts 17, so that said bars 16 are spaced away from the bore of said stator 9, thus said slots 15 and bars 16 do not change the siren pitch because of additional openings and closings with rotor 3.
30) A Mechanical Siren 1 comprising an electric motor 2 driving through a clutch 8 said rotor 3, having a plurality of said pumping channels 12 having spiral ramps 28 disposed between said rotor's blades substantially at right angle to said blade walls, said ramps angled substantially at 45 degrees to the rotor axis of rotation, so as to change the direction of said rebounding wave 21 from radially inward to directly out through said intake throat 5 and nose 35 in one single rebound, said rotor 3 mounted with bearings to promote coasting, said rotor 3 dimensioned with width 25 front ring 29, and width 24 of said rear rotor disk, and a circumferential overlap by said stator blank space 18, to width 27 and width 26 beside either side of said rotor pumping channel 12, said width measurements are all substantially equal, forming equal width air dams surrounding pumping channel 12, to decrease rebound air leakage, substantially preserving the acoustic energy imparted to said rebounding sound waves 21, said stator 9 having multiple window 11 openings corresponding in size to said rotor pumping channels 12, said window 11 is formed by plural slots 15 substantially parallel to the siren axis of rotation and radial to its center, said slots 15 leave bars 16 with under cuts 17, so that said bars 16 are spaced away from the bore of stator 9, thus said slots 15 and bars 16 do not change the siren pitch because of additional openings and closings with rotor 3, said rebounding waves 21 combine as a spiraling pulsing wave 22 to exit through said nose 35 with its angled throat to guide said sound waves 22 in an expanding pattern without cavitations and eddy currents.
