Abstract
A process and means for drying sticky or gluey materials uses an arrangement of rotor arms that are adjusted so that feed materials are rapidly mixed into the bed material. The moisture content of the bed material is kept below the moisture limit of the glue zone.
Claims27
Process for drying of sticky materials in a rotating drying means characterised in that the process comprises the steps:
- a) that the processing chamber of the drying means comprises an amount of material with a moisture
- 4 M ( t ) = ∫ V ρ · ⅆ V
- level of where F(t)<fg with fg being the
- 5 F ( t ) = 1 M ∫ V ρ f · ⅆ V ,
- glue phase lower limit, and
- b) that to this amount M(t) is added an amount of material i with a moisture content fi, where fi>fh, where fh is the glue phase upper limit, and
- c) that the relationship between i*fi and M(t)*F(t) is regulated so that F(t)<fg, and
- d) that sufficient fast mixing is established so that f(X,t)<fg.
Means (10) for drying of liquid-containing material comprising a processing chamber (12) with at least one inlet opening (18), and a rotor (14) mounted in this processing chamber (12), with an annular space being established between the inner surface (12a) of the processing chamber (12) and the outer surfaces of the rotor (14) for taking up of material that shall be dried, characterised in that the rotor (14) comprises a number of fixed rotor arms (16) that cannot swing, which end at a distance inside the inner surface (12a) of the processing chamber (12), and that the inner surface of the stator is smooth.
