Abstract
A disposable, yet re-usable, clear plastic protective covering, preferably clear, but not limited in color or clarity, designed to enclose articles or areas of the body in an air tight, thus waterproof environment and fitted to the body by means of simple single or multiple bands of elastic, permanently attached to the open end(s) by heat sealing, sewing or gluing with an adhesive, around the circumference of the device opening, to secure the device in place for the duration of use providing single-handed application and removal, and preventing exposure to damaging moisture, fluids or other contaminants to the area of concern for use in medical or non-medical situations.
Claims2
1) a disposable protective cover made of polyethylene film, preferably clear, but not limited to color or clarity, or comparable material, designed to fit over a limb or body part for the purpose of protecting the affected area or its injuries, casts, dressings, IVs, sutures, rashes, wounds, vaccines, tattoos, etc., from damaging moisture or other contaminants and fitted to that area at the receiving ends with elastic bands attached to the circumference of the opening(s) without the addition or use of straps, ties or other securing means, either attached or unattached.
- a) that the seams of the various protectors are heat-sealed to form a variety shapes, fitting multiple body areas and sizes. The arm device includes a hand-shape with fingers, such as a glove or a mitten, sealed at the edges and the leg designs being of either heat-sealed forms or tubular material with sealed ends opposing the open ends, and certain other designs, being tubular in shape, either heat-sealed at the edges or left in tubular design and elasticized at the open end(s).
- b) the band(s) of elastic being permanently attached around the circumference of the receiving end by method of heat sealing, sewing, or bonding with glue or other adhesive, as described in the details of this invention. A single band or multiple bands may be used, the bands secured and positioned so they present to the interior of the device as described above.
- c) various lengths, designs and sizes of these protectors can be made to accommodate various areas on the body needing protection
2) that the claimed disposable protective covers may be used effectively as a device to provide protection from moisture or other contaminants for medical and non-medical purposes.
- a) as a medical device, the protectors may be used to effectively cover an injury site, including casts, sutures, IVs, surgery sites, rashes, dressings, burns, wounds vaccines, tattoos, or other surface-related areas of concern. The elasticized openings protect the affected area from obtaining damage from moisture or other contaminants, even allowing normal bathing routines during the healing process.
- b) as a device used by individuals for personal protection from moisture or other contaminants, effectively keeping the area of concern clean and dry. The elasticized openings keep the protectors in place for the duration of use, and allow for single-handed application and removal.
