Abstract
Variable write back delay apparatus, methods and articles of manufacture are disclosed. The disclosed variable write back delay apparatus, methods and articles of manufacture identify a probability associated with a loss of a file and determine the write back delay based on the probability associated with the loss of the file. The disclosed apparatus, methods and articles of manufacture associate a write back delay with each file that results in a minimal expected total time cost of recreating and storing that file.

A method of determining a write back delay comprising:
- identifying a probability associated with a loss of a file;
- and
- determining the write back delay based on the probability associated with the loss of the file.
A system for determining a write back delay comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor coupled to the memory and programmed to:
- identify a probability associated with a loss of a file;
- and
- determine the write back delay based on the probability associated with the loss of the file.
A machine readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed, cause a machine to:
- identify a probability associated with a loss of a file;
- and
- determine a write back delay based on the probability associated with the loss of the file.
A method of writing a file to a non-volatile memory, comprising:
- calculating a write back delay based on a characteristic of the file;
- and
- writing the file to the non-volatile memory following a time period equal to the write back delay.
A system for writing a file to a non-volatile memory, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor programmed to:
- calculate a write back delay based on a characteristic of the file;
- and
- write the file to the non-volatile memory following a time period equal to the write back delay.
A machine readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed, cause a machine to:
- calculate a write back delay based on a characteristic of the file;
- and
- write the file to the non-volatile memory following a time period equal to the write back delay.
A method of transmitting digital information, comprising:
- modifying the digital information at a first location;
- determining a write back delay based at least in part on the digital information;
- and
- transmitting the digital information to a second location following a time period equal to the write back delay.
