A platinum compound comprising a structure:

- wherein each of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, and R7, independently, is hydrogen, —OH, —CH2—OH, —CH2—CH2—OH, —CH2—OH—CH3, —CH2—CH2—CH2—OH, —CH2—CH(CH3)OH, —O—CH3, —O—CH2—CH3, —O—CH2—CH2—CH3, —CH2—C6H6, —CH2—C6H5-OH, —CH2—COOH, —CH2—CH2—COOH, or lower alkyl, or R1, R2, R3 together with the attached N is pyridine.
