Abstract
A method for providing information to a plurality of wireless mobile communication devices. The method includes dedicating at least one channel (3061) of a plurality of spread spectrum data channels (306) as a broadcast channel. The frequency and phase of a carrier signal and of a chip rate clock (206) of the at least one channel are synchronized for each of a plurality of cell transmitters (204) of a respective plurality of base stations (134). The Information is then broadcast over the at least one dedicated channel from each base station.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- dedicating at least one channel (3061) of a plurality of spread spectrum data channels (306) as a broadcast channel;
- synchronizing frequency and phase of a carrier signal and of a chip rate clock (206) of the at least one dedicated channel for each of a plurality of cell transmitters (204) of a respective plurality of base stations (134);
- and
- broadcasting information over said at least one dedicated channel from each base station.
In a communications system for providing wireless information, a computer readable medium in a general purpose computer system that operates as a special purpose controller when executing at least one program for broadcasting said information, comprising:
- dedicating at least one channel (3061) of a plurality of spread spectrum data channels (306) as a broadcast channel;
- synchronizing frequency and phase of a carrier signal and of a chip rate clock (206) of the at least one dedicated channel for each of a plurality of cell transmitters (204) of a respective plurality of base stations (134);
- broadcasting information over said at least one dedicated channel from each base station.
