Abstract
A CDMA communication apparatus capable of minimizing a danger involved in transmit power control based on control information containing errors and securing reliability of a system. In this apparatus, the overflow error detector (103) and reception state monitoring section (104) acquire information on overflows of the AD converter (101). Then, the reception quality decision section (105) evaluates reliability of the received signal considering this overflow information and removes the signal whose reliability is decided to be low from the basic data for generation of TPC bits (transmit power control information).
Claims5
A method of controlling generation of transmit power control information in order for a mobile terminal apparatus to perform transmit power control in a closed loop mode between said mobile terminal apparatus and a base station carrying out a CDMA scheme communication based on information on the quality of a received signal, comprising the steps of:
- acquiring, when the level of the signal received by said mobile terminal apparatus is beyond the input dynamic range of an AD converter provided at the input stage resulting in an overflow, information on at least one of the fact that the overflow has occurred and the frequency and amount of the overflow, and frequency distribution with respect to the amount of the overflow;
- evaluating reliability of the received signal based on the acquired information;
- and
- removing the received signal whose reliability has been decided not to reach predetermined criteria from the basic data for generation of said transmit power control information.
A mobile terminal apparatus which carries out transmit power control in a closed loop mode with a base station, comprising:
- an AD converter which converts a received signal to a digital signal;
- a reception state monitoring section which acquires information on at least one of the occurrence of an overflow at said AD converter, the frequency and amount of the overflow, and frequency distribution with respect to the amount of the overflow;
- a reception quality decision section which evaluates reliability of said received signal based on said information acquired by this reception state monitoring section;
- and
- a transmission control information generation section which generates transmission control information to be sent to said base station,
- wherein as a result of the decision by said reception quality decision section, the received signal whose reliability has been decided not to reach predetermined criteria is not considered as the basic data for generation of transmission control information by said transmission control information generation section.
A method of controlling characteristics of a reception circuit based on overflow information, comprising the steps of:
- acquiring, when the level of the signal received by a reception apparatus is beyond the input dynamic range of an AD converter provided at the input stage of said reception apparatus resulting in an overflow, information on at least one of the frequency and amount of the overflow, and frequency distribution with respect to the amount of the overflow;
- and
- adjusting a DC bias at the input end of the AD converter or the amplification factor of a variable gain amplifier provided before said AD converter for amplifying said received signal.
A CDMA communication apparatus comprising:
- an AD converter which converts a received signal to a digital signal;
- a reception state monitoring section which acquires, when the level of the signal received by a reception apparatus is beyond the input dynamic range of an AD converter provided at the input stage of said reception apparatus resulting in an overflow, information on at least one of the frequency and amount of the overflow, and frequency distribution with respect to the amount of the overflow;
- and
- a control system circuit for adjusting a DC bias at the input end of said AD converter or the amplification factor of a variable gain amplifier provided before said AD converter for amplifying said received signal based on said acquired information.
