System and method for matching and assembling records

A computer program product for directing a general purpose digital computer to perform method steps to organize data, the method steps comprising:

• a) obtaining data comprised of a plurality of records that contain at least one field;
• b) matching similar records;
• and
• c) assembling a new record comprised of parts of the matched records.

A method for organizing data, comprising the steps of:

• a) means for obtaining data comprised of a plurality of records that contain at least one field;
• b) means for matching similar records;
• and
• c) means for assembling a new record comprised of parts of the matched records.

A method for organizing data, comprising the steps of:

• a) obtaining data comprised of a plurality of records that each contain at least one field;
• b) generating a match score for fields that contain similar information;
• c) partitioning the records into groups using the match scores;
• d) assembling a new record by combining at least portions of the grouped records;
• and
• e) inferring new data from the new record.

A computer program product for directing a general purpose digital computer to perform method steps to organize data, the method steps comprising:

• a) obtaining data comprised of a plurality of records that each contain at least one field;
• b) generating a match score for fields that contain similar information;
• c) partitioning the records into groups using the match scores;
• d) assembling a new record by combining at least portions of the grouped records;
• and
• e) inferring new data from the new record.

A method for organizing data, comprising the steps of:

• a) means for obtaining data comprised of a plurality of records that each contain at least one field;
• b) means for generating a match score for fields that contain similar information;
• c) means for partitioning the records into groups using the match scores;
• d) means for assembling a new record by combining at least portions of the grouped records;
• and
• e) means for inferring new data from the new record.

A method of identifying an unlabeled field within a record, the method comprising the steps of:

• obtaining a target record that is similar to the record;
• pairing a labeled field from the target record with the unlabeled field;
• comparing the labeled field with the unlabeled field;
• and
• assigning a same field label from the labeled field to the unlabeled field.

A method of labeling a field, the method comprising the steps of:

• providing an unlabeled field;
• comparing the unlabeled field with a labeled field;
• identifying the labeled field within the unlabeled field;
• and
• assigning a same field label from the labeled field to the unlabeled field.

A method of matching fields, the method comprising the steps of:

• providing a plurality of fields, with each field containing a group of similar entities;
• comparing the entities in each field;
• determining a number of matching entities;
• and
• generating a match score.

• b) comparing a field in a first record to at least one other field in a second record;
• c) determining if the compared fields contain similar information;

• d) grouping the records that contain the fields having the similar information.
