Abstract
The present invention pertains to improved methods for the destruction of undesirable tissue using photodynamic therapy (PDT) and/or sonodynamic therapy (SDT). Such methods include the use of fractionated dosing of the photosensitizer or sonosensitizer to ensure that the sensitizer can be found in various compartments of the tissue and appropriate vasculature prior to the application of activating energy such as electromagnetic radiation or ultrasonic energy.
Claims25
A method for administering dynamic therapy (DT) to a target tissue in a subject, the method comprising:
- a) administering to the subject an effective amount of a first sensitizer at a first time;
- b) administering to the subject an effective amount of a second sensitizer at a second time after the first time;
- and, thereafter,
- c) administering to the target tissue activating energy in an amount and of a wavelength effective to activate the first and second sensitizers, thereby administering DT to the target tissue in the subject.
