Abstract
Collision preventing projections (50) are provided on an outer surface of a female housing (20) and will contact an opening of a receptacle (11) of a male housing (10) if a main portion (21) of the female housing (20) is inserted into a receptacle (11) in an oblique posture. Thus, the collision preventing projections (50) ensure that the main portion (21) and male terminals (12) are spaced apart when the main portion (21) is pushed into the receptacle (11) in this oblique posture.
Claims17
A connector in which first terminals (12) at least partly project into a receptacle (11) of a first housing (10) and a main portion (21) of a second housing (20) is substantially properly fitted into the receptacle (11) to electrically connect the first terminals (12) with mating terminals at least partly accommodated in the second housing (20), wherein:
- at least one collision preventing projection (50) is provided at a position of an outer surface of the second housing (20) receded from a connecting surface (21S) of the main portion (21), and set such that, when the main portion (21) is at least partly inserted into the receptacle (11) at a posture oblique to a proper connecting posture, the second housing (20) contacts an opening of the receptacle (11) to hinder a connecting operation and the at least one collision preventing projection (50) is outside the opening (110) of the receptacle (11) without entering the opening (11O).
A connector, comprising:
- a first housing (10) with a receptacle (11) with an opening (110) having a height (H), first terminals (12) mounted in the first housing (10) and having front ends projecting into the receptacle (11), the front ends of the first terminals (12) being spaced rearwardly from the opening (110) by a distance (B);
- a second housing (20) having a main portion (21) with a front surface (21S), portions of the main portion (21) extending rearward from the front surface (21S) being dimensioned for insertion into the receptacle (11) of the first housing (10) when the first and second housings (10, 20) are aligned at a proper connecting posture;
- and:
- at least one collision preventing projection (50) at a position of an outer surface of the second housing (20) reward of the front surface (21S) of the main portion (21) by a distance (D) selected to satisfy a relational expression:
- H≦D<B
- such that the collision preventing projection (50) contacts the opening (11O) from outside the receptacle (11) and hindering a connecting operation when the first and second housings (10, 20) are at a posture oblique to a proper connecting posture.
A connector, comprising:
- a first housing (10) with a receptacle (11) with an opening (110), first terminals (12) mounted in the first housing (10) and having front ends projecting into the receptacle (11), the front ends of the first terminals (12) being spaced rearwardly from the opening (11O);
- a second housing (20) having a main portion (21) with a front surface (21S), portions of the main portion (21) extending rearward from the front surface (21S) being dimensioned for insertion into the receptacle (11) of the first housing (10) when the first and second housings (10, 20) are aligned at a proper connecting posture;
- and:
- at least one collision preventing projection (50) having a front end surface (51) aligned at an acute angle to a connecting direction (FD) and disposed at a position of an outer surface of the second housing (20) reward of the front surface (21S) of the main portion (21) by a distance (D) selected such that the collision preventing projection (50) contacts the opening (110) from outside the receptacle (11) and hinders a connecting operation when the first and second housings (10, 20) are at a posture oblique to a proper connecting posture.
