Abstract
A tool, in particular for production of overlap joints, with a multi-component die, with outwardly yielding die sleeve pieces (2) and opposing individual springs (6), which are connected to each other in one piece by a connecting section (7), whereby at least three sleeve pieces (2) are provided, arranged asymmetrically around the mid-axis of the die.
Claims20
A tool that connects plates or plate pieces placed on top of each other (14, 15), or plates with connecting points (punching rivets, screw bolt attachments, or the like) by means of riveting (clinching, or the like),
- which has a matrix consisting of several parts and having a working opening (3),
- which has a punch (4), or the like, that is powered in the direction of the working opening (3),
- which has matrix sheathing pieces (2) that are arranged radially around the working opening (3). During the clinching procedure, these sheathing pieces move radially to the outside, being restricted in movement through displaced work pieces,
- which has a matrix base plate (1) that is positioned across from the punch (4) in which the sheathing pieces (2) are mounted and
- which has springs (6) operating radially towards the inside that engage at the sheathing pieces (2). At one end, these bar-shaped springs engage at the sheathing pieces. At the other end, they are one-piece connected with each other through a connecting section (7).
- In the transition area between the connecting section (7) and the springs (6), there is a crank (13) for each spring in the direction of the sheathing pieces.
- The connecting section (7) is located at a dividing plane of the matrix which runs transverse to the driving direction. This is characterized by the fact
- that, during the clinching procedure, the punch (4) is not going to cut through the plate (5),
- that there are at least three sheathing pieces (2),
- that the sheathing pieces (2) are mostly arranged axially symmetric around the centerline of the matrix and
- that the connecting sections (7) can take the form of a cross, be ring-shaped or star-shaped, corresponding to the number of sheathing pieces (2).
