Abstract
Processing of a pixel of a digital image includes mapping intensity of the pixel as a smooth, non-linear continuous function of the intensity and minimum and maximum intensities of a local pixel neighborhood of the pixel.
Claims19
A method of processing a pixel of a digital image, the method comprising mapping intensity of the pixel as a smooth, non-linear continuous function of the intensity and minimum and maximum intensities of a local pixel neighborhood of the pixel.
Apparatus for processing a plurality of pixels of a digital image, the apparatus comprising a processor for mapping intensity of each one of the pixels as a smooth, non-linear continuous function of pixel intensity and local minimum and maximum intensities.
A system comprising:
- a capture device for generating a digital image;
- and
- a processor for processing a plurality of pixels of the digital image by mapping intensity of each one of the pixels as a smooth, non-linear continuous function of pixel intensity and local minimum and maximum intensities.
An article for a processor, the article comprising computer memory encoded with a program for instructing the processor to process a pixel of the digital image by mapping intensity of the pixel as a smooth, non-linear continuous function of pixel intensity and local minimum and maximum intensities.
