An anti-corrosive pigment comprising
- a metal salt comprising a metal cation and an anion;
- and
- a metal having at least one oxygen atom;
- wherein the molar ratio of the total metal to said anion is in the range of 1:4 to 1:120.
A method for the production of an anti-corrosive pigment said pigment comprising a) a metal salt comprising a metal cation and an anion, and b) a metal having at least one oxygen atom;
- said method comprising the step of mixing an acid of said anion with said metal having at least one oxygen atom, thereby generating said metal salt,
- wherein the molar ratio of the total metal to said anion is in the range of 1:4 to 1.120.
