Abstract
A mower including support for an operator in a standing position during use thereof. Specifically, the mower includes a support against which an operator may lean when operating the mower in the standing position. Additionally, the support includes a portion capable of being straddled and then sat upon by the operator. This capability allows the operator to relieve at least some of the pressure applied to his/her body during extended periods of standing on the platform.
Claims10
A support comprising:
- a) a section of material having a portion that is operable in first and second modes in which the first mode is defined by the portion being oriented to receive a laterally directed force and the second mode is defined by the portion being oriented to receive a vertically directed force, the portion being pivotally moveable to and from the orientations associated with the first and second modes;
- and
- b) a stop device for limiting movement of the member between the orientations associated with the first and second modes.
An operator station adapted to support a person in a standing position, the station comprising:
- 1) a platform which receives at least a portion of the weight of the person;
- and
- 2) a support formed as part of the operator station and which is usable to assist the person in obtaining a relative degree of stability while on the platform, the support comprising a portion moveable between at least first and second positions at which the person is oriented at a different stance relative to the platform when in one of the positions.
A lawn mower comprising:
- a) a frame supported upon a plurality of ground engaging wheels;
- b) an engine carried by the frame;
- c) a cutting chamber connected with the frame;
- d) a cutting device carried within the cutting chamber and powerable by the engine;
- and
- e) an operator station adapted to support a person in a standing position, the station comprising
- 1) a platform which receives at least a portion of the weight of the person;
- and
- 2) a support, each of the platform and the support being mounted to the frame, the support having a portion which is selectively pivotal between first and second positions to enable the person to be located at a different stance relative to the platform.
