Abstract
Various processes and relevant devices for causing polymer films, which are extensible with the help of the devices disclosed in Patent Application WO No. 98/32668 of Jan. 23, 1998 and in its applications, to adhere to the edges of openings of plastic or PET or even metal containers, by releasing electrostatic charges opposite in sign to those of containers and/or the polymer films to be applied thereto. P.S.—The processes derive from a single general inventive concept
Claims16
A process for applying an extensible polymer film (13) onto the edge of the opening (21), possibly having had an appropriate surface treatment, of bottles (1) or similar containers (1) made of plastic (PET or the like), or metal, characterized in that, on the edge of these openings (21) and/or on the extensible polymer film (13) before applying the film (13) any appropriate gas fluid is blown through one or more appropriate and suitably oriented nozzles (5).
A device for implementing the preceding claims, characterized in that it includes one or more suitable radiant heat sources (22) of any type, disposed at the edge of the opening to be sealed (21) and/or near the extensible polymer film (13) and/or near the surfaces of the body whereto the extensible film is to adhere.
A process for applying an extensible polymer film to the opening edge (21) of a bottle or similar container (1) made of plastic (PET or the like) or even metal, characterized in that the plastic or metal container (1), or the extensible polymer film (13) or both are electrostatically charged with opposite charges before and/or during the application of the extensible polymer film (13) by contact thereof with the surfaces of any appropriate electrostatically chargeable solid bodies.
