Abstract
A novel celery cultivar, designated ADS-8, is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of celery cultivar ADS-8, to the plants of celery line ADS-8 and to methods for producing a celery plant by crossing the cultivar ADS-8 with itself or another celery line. The invention further relates to methods for producing a celery plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic plants produced by that method and to methods for producing other celery lines derived from the cultivar ADS-8.
Claims19
Seed of a celery variety designated ADS-8, representative seed having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. ______.
A method for producing a celery variety ADS-8-derived celery plant, comprising:
- a) crossing celery variety ADS-8, representative samples of said variety having been deposited under ATCC accession number ______, with a second celery plant to yield progeny celery seed;
- and
- b) growing said progeny celery seed, under plant growth conditions, to yield said celery variety ADS-8-derived celery plant.
- c) crossing said celery variety ADS-8-derived celery plant with itself or another celery plant to yield additional celery variety ADS-8-derived progeny celery seed;
- d) growing said progeny celery seed of step (c) under plant growth conditions, to yield additional celery variety ADS-8-derived celery plants;
- and
- e) repeating the crossing and growing steps of (c) and (d) from 0 to 7 times to generate further celery variety ADS-8-derived celery plants.
