Abstract
A method of treating constipation in a patient who has been chronically taking opioids, the method comprising orally administering a quaternary derivative of noroxymorphone in an amount sufficient to achieve laxation.

A method for treating constipation in a patient receiving opioids chronically, comprising administering orally to the patient receiving opioids chronically a quaternary derivative of noroxymorphone in an amount to achieve laxation within 24 hours.
