Image reading apparatus, and image forming apparatus

An image reading apparatus comprising:

• a conveying means for conveying a sheet to a reading position;
• a platen glass for guiding the sheet conveyed at the reading position;
• a reading device for reading through the platen glass an image on the sheet conveyed at the reading position;
• a platen roller disposed on a side opposite to the reading device with respect to the platen glass for forming a small gap with the platen glass;
• at least one sheet restricting roller arranged adjacently to the platen glass for forming a small gap with the platen glass to restrict the sheet toward the platen glass;
• at least one white guide member disposed facing to the platen glass between the sheet restricting roller and the platen roller;
• and
• a driving means for moving the reading device,
• wherein the drive means can move the reading device to a main reading position for reading operation at a position adjacently to the platen roller and to at least one sub reading position for reading operation at a position adjacently to the white guide member.
