Abstract
The present invention is compositions and methods containing at least one perylenequinone, wherein the activated perylenequinone modulates the immune response. The compositions and methods of the present invention may also be used in combination with other administered immunotherapies. For example, the present invention may be used with antibody, antigen, cytokine, and/or immunoadjuvant based immunotherapies. In this embodiment of the invention, the compositions and methods modulate the function or activity of the immunotherapy itself. 1

A method of modulating activity of an immunotherapeutic agent comprising administering a composition comprising an amino-substituted hypocrellin, said hypocrellin being a sonosensitizer and/or a photosensitizer, and activating the hypocrellin, and allowing the activated hypocrellin to modulate the potential of an immunotherapeutic agent.
