Abstract
Methods for treating leukemia patients include analyzing gene expression profiles of a patient to determine whether the patient is likely to respond to treatment with farnesyl transferase inhibitor (FTI) and, optionally, other therapeutics. The methods are also useful for monitoring patient therapy and for selecting a course of therapy. Genes modulated in response to FTI treatment are provided and are used in formulating the profiles.
Claims24
A method of determining whether a patient will respond to treatment with an FTI by analyzing the expression of a gene that is differentially modulated in the presence of an FTI.
A method of treating a patient comprising:
- a) analyzing the gene expression profile of said patient to determine whether the patient will respond to treatment with an FTI, and
- b) treating the patient with the FTI if the analysis indicates that the patient will respond.
Articles for assessing the efficacy of treatment of a patient with an FTI comprising a medium with which patient gene expression profiles indicative of FTI response are determined.
Kits comprising articles for obtaining gene expression profiles for determining response to FTI treatment.
