Abstract
Briefly, a method to control data transmission rate and transmission power level of a mobile unit is provided. The method may include varying a data transmission rate value based on a difference between a received signal strength and a receiver sensitivity value and reducing the transmission power level when transmission is at the highest data transmission rate.
Claims26
A method comprising:
- setting a data transmission rate value and a transmission power level value based on the value of a Link Margin for transmitting data over an air link.
An apparatus comprising:
- a controller to set a data transmission rate value based on a received signal strength value and a receiver sensitivity value;
- and
- a transmitter to transmit data at data transmission rate substantially equal to the data transmission rate value and to transmit data at a transmission power level selected by the controller.
An apparatus comprising:
- a controller to set a data transmission rate value based on a received signal strength value and a receiver sensitivity value;
- and
- a transmitter operably coupled to a dipole antenna to transmit data at data transmission rate substantially equal to the data transmission rate value and to transmit data at a transmission power level selected by the controller.
An article comprising:
- a storage medium having stored thereon instructions that when executed result in:
- setting a data transmission rate value and a transmission power level based on a link margin value for transmitting data over an air link.
