Surgical bandage and methods for treating open wounds

A method for treating an open wound comprising the steps of:

• affixing one end of a surgical bandage to one side of the open wound;
• pulling one other end of the surgical bandage in a manner to substantially close the open wound;
• affixing the other end of the surgical bandage to one other side of the substantially closed wound;
• and
• visualizing at least a portion of the open wound through a central portion of the surgical bandage;
• and
• dispensing onto the central portion of the surgical bandage between the two ends of the surgical bandage a fluid, wherein the fluid flows through at least one unobstructed fluid path of the central portion to directly contact the substantially closed wound.

A wound treatment kit for treating an open wound using a method comprising the steps of:

• affixing one end of a surgical bandage to one side of the open wound;
• pulling one other end of the surgical bandage to substantially close the open wound;
• affixing the other end of the surgical bandage to one other side of the substantially closed wound;
• and
• dispensing onto a central portion of the surgical bandage between the two ends of the surgical bandage a fluid, wherein the fluid flows through at least one opening of the central portion directly onto the closed wound.
