Abstract
Disclosed herein is a process for the selective synthesis of triorganophosphites intermediates, including chloridites and dichloridites, from PX3 (X=Cl, Br or I), alcoholos and triorganoamines where alcohol and triorganoamine are added either (a) separately and concurrently, or (b) alternating equimolar portions of amine and alcohol.
Claims6
A process for the selective production of R1OPX2;
- (R1O)(R2 O)PX and (R1O)(R2 O)P(O R3) wherein X=Cl, Br, I, and R1, R2, and R3 are the same or different C1 to C18 aryl or alkyl radicals, comprising:
- (i) contacting PX3 in the presence of an aprotic solvent with an alcohol R1OH and a triorganoamine, wherein the amine and the alcohol are added either (a) separately and concurrently, or as (b) alternating equimolar portions of amine and alcohol, to produce R1OPX2;
- (ii) optionally contacting the reaction product of (i) with an alcohol R2OH and a triorganoamine, wherein the amine and the alcohol are added either (a) separately and concurrently, or as (b) alternating equimolar portions of amine and alcohol, to produce (R1O)(R2O)PX;
- (iii) optionally contacting the reaction product of (i or ii) with an alcohol R3OH and a triorganoamine, to produce (R1O)(R2O)P(OR3).
