Abstract
The present invention provides a method for treating cognitive decline in a patient by administering to the patient at least about 100 units per day of α-interferon.

A method of treating cognitive decline in a patient, comprising the step of administering to said patient an anti-cholinesterase agent and alpha interferon.
A method of treating cognitive decline in a patient with Alzheimer's disease or other inflammatory/degenerative neurological diseases, comprising the step of administering to said patient an anti-cholinesterase agent and alpha interferon.
A method of treating an individual having Alzheimer's Disease or at risk for Alzheimer's Disease or other inflammatory/degenerative neurological diseases, comprising the step of administering to said individual a pharmacologically effective dose of alpha interferon.
