Abstract
Cosmetic preparations are comprised of a thickening effective amount of a polyether urethane thickener of the formula (I): R1—(OCH2CH2)m—[CO—NH—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—NH—CO]x—(CH2CH2O)n—R2 (I) wherein each of R1 and R2 is a linear or branched alkyl and/or alkenyl group having from 6 to 22 carbon atoms, x is a number from 1 to 3 and each of m and n is a number from 10 to 100. Cosmetic formulations containing only small quantities of the thickeners of formula are easy to apply and leave the skin with a pleasant feeling and no sticky residues.
Claims10
Cosmetic preparations containing polyether urethane thickeners corresponding to formula (I):
- R1—(OCH2CH2)m—[CO—NH—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—NH—CO]x—(CH2CH2O)n—R2 (I)
- in which R1 and R2 independently of one another represent linear or branched alkyl and/or alkenyl groups containing 6 to 22 carbon atoms, x is a number of 1 to 3 and m and n independently of one another stand for numbers of 10 to 100
A process for the production of polyether urethane thickeners, characterized in that
- (a) ethoxylated fatty alcohols are predried,
- (b) a diisocyanate is then added to them under nitrogen in a reflux apparatus at 70 to 90° C.,
- (c) dibutyl tin dilaurate is added as catalyst after reaction times of one hour and two hours and
- (d) the end of the reaction time is determined by NCO titration.
