Abstract
The invention relates to short 3- to 10-mer bioactive oligopeptides composed of amino acid residues selected from the group consisting of glycine, alanine, β-alanine, serine, histidine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, lysine and arginine. They are able to improve at least one cell culture parameter such as growth rate, viable cell number, viability on day 6 or 7, or final product yield, when added to the basal nutrient medium. The invention further relates to mixtures of such oligopeptides and to a method of improving cell culture parameters by incubating animal or plant cells in the presence of said oligopeptides.
Claims21
Use of a bioactive oligopeptide consisting of 2-10, preferably 3-6, amino acid residues, for increasing the yield of a desired cell product in an animal or plant cell culture, as compared to a control without said oligopeptide, substantially without said oligopeptide being utilized as a source of nutrition by the cells of the cell culture.
(new) Use of a bioactive oligopeptide consisting of 2-10, preferably 3-6, amino acid residues, for the manufacture of a cell culture nutrient medium for increasing the yield of a desired cell product in an animal or plant cell culture, as compared to a control without said oligopeptide, substantially without said oligopeptide being utilized as a source of nutrition by the cells of the cell culture.
(new) Use of a bioactive oligopeptide consisting of 2-10, preferably 3-6, amino acid residues, for supplementing a basal nutrient medium suitable for animal or plant cell culture, for increasing the yield of a desired cell product in an animal or plant cell culture, as compared to a control without said oligopeptide, substantially without said oligopeptide being utilized as a source of nutrition by the cells of the cell culture.
(new) A nutrient medium suitable for animal or plant cell culture, comprising a bioactive oligopeptide capable of increasing the yield of a desired cell product in an animal or plant cell culture, as compared to a control without said oligopeptide, substantially without said oligopeptide being utilized as a source of nutrition by the cells of the cell culture, which oligopeptide consists of 3 to 10, preferably 3 to 6, amino acid residues, and has at least two identical amino acid residues, preferably selected from the group consisting of glycine, alanine, β-alanine, serine and threonine residues, and wherein said oligopeptide is neither tri- nor tetraglycine.
(new) A bioactive oligopeptide capable of increasing the yield of a desired cell product in an animal or plant cell culture, as compared to a control without said oligopeptide, substantially without said oligopeptide being utilized as a source of nutrition by the cells of the cell culture, which oligopeptide consists of 3 to 10, preferably 3 to 6, amino acid residues, and has has at least two identical amino acid residues selected from the group consisting of glycine, alanine, β-alanine, serine, and threonine residues and, additionally, at least one amino acid residue selected from the group consisting of histidine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, lysine and arginine residues, and wherein said oligopeptide is neither tri- nor tetraglycine.
