Abstract
A recording medium with the increased recording efficiency is provided. Depending upon the size of the remaining area of a sector, a transport stream unit is recorded across two sectors with the result that sectors contain no null data. If the size of the remaining area of the last sector of a stream object unit is less than the size of a transport stream unit, the remaining area is padded with null data.

A recording medium comprising:
- a plurality of sectors, wherein digital transport stream units are sequentially recorded in one of the sectors, each transport stream unit having a predetermined length, and a received transport stream unit is recorded across the remaining area of the one of the sectors and the next sector if the size of the remaining area of the one of the sectors is less than the length of the received transport stream unit.
