Abstract
In a photography method, a film image is scanned and digitized to provide a digital image. An identifier associated with the film image is read. The identifier points to a group of filter effects. Each filter effect has a preassigned digital modification. The modifications are not remedial for the respective filter effects. One of the filter effects is detected in the digital image. Responsive to the detecting of that filter effect, the preassigned digital modification is applied to the digital image.
Claims44
A photography method comprising the steps of:
- detecting a filter effect in a digital image;
- responsive to said detecting, applying a digital modification to said digital image, said digital modification being preassigned to and non-remedial for said filter effect.
A photographic method comprising the steps of:
- receiving a plurality of digital images derived from captured images, each said digital image having a plurality of pixels;
- receiving, in association with said digital images, an indication that any one or more of said captured images can include any one of a set of predetermined filter effects;
- transforming said digital images into luminance-chrominance representations, each said representation having at least one luminance pixel value and at least two chrominance pixel values for each said pixel;
- calculating predictive chrominance parameters from said chrominance pixel values of said digital images;
- and
- comparing each of said predictive chrominance parameters to at least one reference chrominance parameter, said reference chrominance parameters each being associated with a respective one of said predetermined filter effects.
A photography method comprising the steps of:
- capturing a group of film images on photographic film;
- during said capturing, selectively filtering at least a portion of one or more of said film images to provide filtered film images having a filter effect from said filtering;
- developing said film images to provide developed images;
- scanning said visible images to provide a group of electronic images corresponding to said developed images;
- detecting said filter effect in said electronic images corresponding to said filtered film images;
- responsive to said detecting, applying a digital modification to only said images having said filter effect, said digital modification being preassigned to said filter effect.
A photofinishing unit comprising:
- a digitizer digitizing a series of captured images on filmstrips of a group of film units to provide a series of digital images;
- a digital fulfillment engine including automatic digital processing of said digital images to detecting a filter effect in one or more of said digital images and, responsive to said detecting, apply a digital modification to respective said digital images, said digital modification being preassigned to and non-remedial for said filter effect.
A photography system comprising:
- first and second pluralities of cameras, each said camera including:
- a body;
- a film unit removably disposed in said body, said film unit including archival media;
- a capture unit disposed in said body, said capture unit defining an optical path, said capture unit selectively capturing a series of said light images transmitted along said optical path as archival images on said archival media;
- wherein each said camera of said first plurality further comprises a color filter disposed in said body, said filter having a use position in said optical path, wherein said light images receive a filter effect;
- and each said camera of said second plurality lacks said color filter;
- and
- a photofinishing unit including:
- a digitizer digitizing a series of captured images on filmstrips of a group of film units to provide a series of digital images;
- a digital fulfillment engine including automatic digital processing of said digital images to detecting a filter effect in one or more of said digital images and, responsive to said detecting, apply a digital modification to respective said digital images, said digital modification being preassigned to and non-remedial for said filter effect.
