The fastenerless boot assembly also includes a seal connected to the boot and to the retainer to prevent the boot from exiting the retainer. ## Claims ### Claim 1 A fastenerless boot assembly for a vehicle comprising: a retainer adapted to be connected to vehicle structure of a vehicle; a boot for surrounding either one of a shifter and a parkbrake of the vehicle; and a seal connected to said boot and to said retainer to prevent said boot from exiting said retainer. ### Claim 2 (depends on 1) A fastenerless boot assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said seal comprises an o-ring. ### Claim 3 (depends on 1) A fastenerless boot assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said seal is made of an elastomeric material. ### Claim 4 (depends on 1) A fastenerless boot assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said boot has a channel therein, said seal being disposed in said channel. ### Claim 5 (depends on 4) A fastenerless boot assembly as set forth in claim 4 wherein said boot has a lower end with a hem, said hem forming said channel. ### Claim 6 (depends on 1) A fastenerless boot assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said retainer comprises a side wall, a top wall extending generally perpendicular from said side wall, and an exterior wall extending generally perpendicular to said top wall. ### Claim 7 (depends on 6) A fastenerless boot assembly as set forth in claim 6 wherein said side wall includes at least one clip rib having a retention surface, said seal being disposed between said retention surface and said exterior wall. ### Claim 8 (depends on 7) A fastenerless boot assembly as set forth in claim 7 wherein said side wall includes a slot on each side of said at least one clip rib to allow said at least one clip rib to flex. ### Claim 9 (depends on 1) A fastenerless boot assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said boot has an upper end and a lower end, said seal being connected to said lower end. ### Claim 10 (depends on 1) A fastenerless boot assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said boot is made of a flexible material. ### Claim 11 A fastenerless assembly comprising: a console of a vehicle having either one of a shifter and a parkbrake extending therethrough; a retainer surrounding the one of said shifter and said parkbrake and connected to said console; a boot surrounding the one of said shifter and said parkbrake; and a seal connected to said boot and to said retainer to prevent said boot from exiting said retainer. ### Claim 12 (depends on 11) A fastenerless assembly as set forth in claim 11 wherein said seal comprises an o-ring. ### Claim 13 (depends on 11) A fastenerless assembly as set forth in claim 11 wherein said seal is made of an elastomeric material. ### Claim 14 (depends on 11) A fastenerless assembly as set forth in claim 11 wherein said boot has a channel therein, said seal being disposed in said channel. ### Claim 15 (depends on 14) A fastenerless assembly as set forth in claim 14 wherein said boot has a lower end with a hem, said hem forming said channel. ### Claim 16 (depends on 11) A fastenerless assembly as set forth in claim 11 wherein said retainer comprises a side wall, a top wall extending generally perpendicular from said side wall, and an exterior wall extending generally perpendicular to said top wall. ### Claim 17 (depends on 16) A fastenerless assembly as set forth in claim 16 wherein said side wall includes at least one clip rib having a retention surface, said seal being disposed between said retention surface and said exterior wall. ### Claim 18 (depends on 17) A fastenerless assembly as set forth in claim 17 wherein said side wall includes a slot on each side of said at least one clip rib to allow said at least one clip rib to flex. ### Claim 19 (depends on 11) A fastenerless assembly as set forth in claim 11 wherein said boot has an upper end and a lower end, said seal being connected to said lower end. ### Claim 20 A fastenerless assembly for a vehicle comprising: a center console of a vehicle having either one of a shifter and a parkbrake extending therethrough; a retainer surrounding the one of said shifter and said parkbrake and connected to said center console, said retainer comprising a side wall, a top wall extending generally perpendicular from said side wall, and an exterior wall extending generally perpendicular to said top wall, said side wall includes at least one clip rib having a retention surface; a boot surrounding the one of said shifter and said parkbrake, said boot having an upper end and a lower end; and an o-ring connected to said lower end of said boot and said o-ring being disposed between said retention surface and said exterior wall to prevent the boot from exiting said retainer.
