Abstract
(57) A cleaning head (30) for a vacuum cleaner comprises a housing (305) which extends transversely to the direction of intended movement (A) of the head. A row of bristles (310) extend outwardly from the sides of the housing (305). The bristles (310) extend transversely outwardly and forwardly from the housing and extend to a level beneath the lowermost surface of the housing. Dirt, dust and other debris which collects at the very edge of a room is either ‘guided’ out of the region next to the wall or is subjected to a vigorous ‘flicking’ action as the head (30) is moved across the floor. A suction channel (330) is located adjacent to the bristles. The bristles (310) are provided as a unit which is removable from the head (30).
