Abstract
An optical scanning system adapted to physically adjust scanner settings in response to control feature readings is disclosed. The scanner and methodology finds particular use in reading of biopolymer arrays. The system may operate in any of a number of ways such that optimal data from scans is obtained. It may also be possible to use the system as a tool to aid in manufacture of arrays by providing feedback to a manufacturer regarding the signal produce for a given batch of samples tested.
Claims26
A method of reading an array having both control features and test features, using an scanner having one or more detectors to detect signals on different channels from the array, said method comprising:
- scanning at least the control features to obtain control feature signal levels,
- adjusting sensitivity of the scanner in view of the control feature signal levels, and
- scanning at least the test features.
An optical scanner system comprising:
- a processor and means for scanning a biopolymer array for at least a first and second channels,
- wherein said system is adapted to scan a biopolymer array for each of said channels at sensitivity settings automatically set in response to a previous scan.
A method of making a biopolymer array comprising:
- scanning a plurality of control features on said array with a scanner calibrated to produce equalized ratios for a set of control channels within specified parameters;
- and
- determining if said control features produce predetermined ratio results.
