Abstract
The present invention includes methods for improving the operational parameters in primary fractionators which are experiencing diminished operation efficiencies due to deposits of polymerized hydrocarbon species. The invention comprises the step of adding a foam reducing amount of a foam reducing composition at the primary fractionator. A reduction in foaming is achieved whereby the operational efficiency of the process is improved based upon operation parameters including, but not limited to, liquid-gas contact ratio, product top temperature, pressure differentials, gasoline end point or combinations thereof.
Claims20
A method for reducing pressure drop in an operating fouled or non-fouled primary fractionator used for fractionation and primary heat recovery in a cracked gas producing plant, comprising the steps of:
- a) directing cracked gas into the primary fractionator for removal of heat from the cracked gas wherein the cracked gas exits through an overhead of the primary fractionator;
- and
- b) adding an anti-foulant to the primary fractionator whereby pressure drop is reduced in the operating primary fractionator.
A method for normalizing a temperature profile in an operating fouled or non-fouled primary fractionator used for fractionation and primary heat recovery in a cracked gas producing plant, comprising the steps of:
- a) directing cracked gas into the primary fractionator for removal of heat from the cracked gas wherein the cracked gas exits through an overhead of the primary fractionator;
- and
- b) adding an anti-foulant to the primary fractionator whereby the temperature profile in the operating primary fractionator is normalized.
A method for improving fractionation in an operating fouled or non-fouled primary fractionator used for fractionation and primary heat recovery in a cracked gas producing plant, comprising the steps of:
- a) directing cracked gas into the primary fractionator for removal of heat from the cracked gas wherein the cracked gas exits through an overhead of the primary fractionator;
- and
- b) adding an anti-foulant to the primary fractionator whereby fractionation is improved during subsequent operation of the operating primary fractionator.
A method for reducing foam in a primary fractionator used in a hydrocarbon manufacturing process, comprising the steps of:
- a) introducing a foam reducing amount of a foam reducing composition into the primary fractionator;
- and
- b) operating the hydrocarbon manufacturing process so that the foam is reduced whereby at least one operational parameter of said process is improved.
