Abstract
The invention relates to covalently cross-linked mammalian hemoglobins, to which polyalkylene oxides are covalently linked. Such hemoglobins are surprisingly compatible with proteins of human and animal plasma, under all the possible conditions within the vascular system of the body. The invention furthermore relates to the production of these cross-linked hemoglobins linked with polyalkylene oxides, as well as to their use as artificial intravasal oxygen carriers in the human or animal organism or in individual organs.
Claims16
Hemoglobin derivative compatible with human and animal plasma, characterized in that the hemoglobin is cross-linked by means of a crosslinker for proteins and a polyalkylene oxide is covalently linked to the hemoglobin, polyalkylene oxides being excluded as crosslinkers and no reaction with diaspirin takes place.
Method for the preparation of hemoglobin derivatives as synthetic oxygen carriers which are compatible with human/animal blood plasma, characterized in that the hemoglobin is cross-linked with a crosslinker for proteins and is covalently linked to the hemoglobin, polyalkylene oxides as crosslinkers being excluded and no reaction with diaspirin takes place.
