Abstract
Computerized analysis of 2-D gels, both carrier ampholyte (CA) and immobilized pH gradient (IPG) based, of the proteins in tissue from esophageal tumors, reveals proteins which are different in tumor and control tissue.
Claims7
An isolated human protein which is overexpressed in esophageal tumors compared to normal esophageal tissue as determined by 2D gel analysis.
A method of diagnosing or monitoring the progression of esophageal cancer comprising:
- 1) determining the amount of at least one protein in a sample from the patient, wherein the protein is overexpressed in esophageal tumors compared to normal esophageal tissue, and
- 2) correlating the amount of the protein with the presence or stage of the disease.
