Abstract
A method and apparatus provide for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network. An advertisement relating to a data set and a query representing a logical expression are received. The advertisement is mapped to a corresponding subscription. The query is mapped to a corresponding notification. The subscription and the notification are used for implementing of the advertisement and the query in the network.

A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- receiving an advertisement relating to a data set;
- receiving a query representing a logical expression;
- mapping the advertisement to a corresponding subscription;
- mapping the query to a corresponding notification;
- using the corresponding subscription for implementation of the advertisement;
- and
- using the corresponding notification for implementation of the query in the network.
A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- creating a subscription to register an advertisement;
- publishing a notification to distribute a query;
- performing content-based routing (CBR) using the subscription to push the notification to an advertiser;
- and, returning responsive data to the requester.
A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- receiving a subscription that registers an advertisement;
- receiving a notification that distributes a query;
- performing content-based routing using the subscription to determine whether to forward the notification to a neighboring node;
- and, selectively forwarding the notification based upon the determination.
A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- publishing a notification with an initial subject;
- publishing a notification with a past subject, wherein the notification with a past subject is for previously published advertisements;
- submitting a subscription for the past subject, wherein the subscription for the past subject is a query for the previously published advertisements;
- and
- performing content-based routing using the subscription for the past subject to push the previously published advertisements to a consumer.
A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- receiving notifications with initial subjects and notifications with past subjects, wherein the notifications with past subjects are for previously published advertisements;
- receiving subscriptions for initial subjects and subscriptions for past subjects, wherein the subscriptions for past subjects are queries for previously published advertisements;
- performing content-based routing using the subscriptions for past subjects to determine whether to forward the previously published advertisements to a neighboring node;
- and,
- selectively forwarding the previously published advertisements based upon the determination.
A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- caching a published notification;
- publishing notifications to advertise content in the cached published notification;
- submitting a subscription to query published notifications;
- replaying the cached published notification from the cache;
- and,
- performing content-based routing (CBR) based on the subscription to push the replayed published notification to a consumer.
A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- caching published notifications;
- receiving subscriptions that query published notifications;
- replaying the cached published notifications from the cache;
- and,
- performing content-based routing (CBR) using the subscriptions that query published notifications to determine whether to forward cached published notifications to a neighboring node;
- and,
- selectively forwarding the cached published notifications based upon the determination.
A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- receiving a data advertisement;
- transforming the data advertisement to a subscription;
- receiving a query;
- transforming the query to a notification;
- performing content-based routing (CBR) based on the subscription to push the notification to an advertiser;
- and
- returning responsive data to a requester based on the notification.
A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- receiving a query;
- transforming the query to a notification;
- and,
- receiving responsive data based on content-based routing performed on the notification and a data advertisement transformed into a subscription.
A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- receiving a data advertisement;
- transforming the data advertisement to a subscription;
- receiving a query transformed into a notification based on content-based routing performed on the subscription and the notification;
- and
- forwarding responsive data to a requester based on the notification.
A method for implementing query-response interactions on a publish-subscribe network, comprising:
- receiving a notification, wherein the notification was transformed from a query;
- performing content-based routing (CBR) to determine whether to forward the notification to a neighboring node;
- and
- selectively forwarding the notification based upon the determination.
